Me and my daughter with Chanda

Today I thought I’d share one of the most incredible animal encounters I’ve had: bottle feeding a 3 month old Bengal Tiger named Changa. A few months back my daughter and I visited the Horseshoe Creek Wildlife Sanctuary located in Davenport, Florida. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to the care of injured, orphaned, abused, and unwanted animals.  They are currently home to around 80 animals including around 40 big cats.

It was a really special experience to share with my daughter, who is only six years old. Posing for the shot was a challenge as these little monsters (I say that lovingly) are squirmy critters, well, that coupled with me trying to hold back the tears of joy (I get very emotional with these rare animal encounters. There is another story involving a “Mexican” lemur that I will save for another day).

The foundation has a great blog as well which is worth checking out. If you are ever in the area (it’s not very far at all from Orlando) be sure to stop by, and more importantly make a donation if you can.
